Review of The Runaways (2010) by Sean R — 11 Dec 2010
'I LOVE ROCK N' ROLL'.
This movie really began to open my mind as to where the music of rock n' roll was going. It went from music of protest to music of anger. THE RUNAWAYS really showed some of the struggles that the individuals, like Joan Jett, had gone through.
Stewart (Twilight: 2008) always played roles like Joan Jett; young, sexually active, and free spirit.
Michael Shannon (Twin Towers: 2003) has really branched out from his acting and has presented us a new form of his characteristics to prove he can really act.
Ms. Dakota Fanning (New Moon: 2009) has very much fallen from the tree and hit someplace she has never landed before. This role for her is a struggle to prove to us that she is not a little girl anymore and wants to show it but going for a role like this. Side note: And I thought Hounddog: 2007 was a hard role for her!
Over all this movie was slow moving in showing character development and keeping the interest of this viewer.
Would I go out and buy this off the shelf? Not in this life time... maybe in the 80s I would have.
