Review of The Runaways (2010) by Tony B — 16 Jun 2013
A very conventional rock film, too conventional actually, though it was well cast and well made overall and visually appealing, but I felt it was lacking in intensity, passion and dirtiness, especially considering the subject matter.
It's not bad, but it felt more like a slow mainstream film for a mainstream audience. I was surprised by Michael Shannon's energetic and enjoyable performance, especially considering I've only known him as the very uptight Nelson Van Alden from the show 'Boardwalk Empire'.
