Review of The Rum Diary (2011) by Tom H — 11 Mar 2012
This clunker just doesn't get off the ground. Despite a good cast, you're sitting there most of the time wondering why this film was made. The characters just float through the story aimlessly on a wave of booze until they're anabiotic.
Only in the last 15 minutes do the characters show direction, and there seems to be some motivation for their doings. I strongly suspect the book is much more powerful than the movie. It's now on my "To Read" list.
