Review of The Ruling Class (1972) by Zach F — 22 Mar 2010
The satire has its clever moments, and Peter O'Toole is fantastic as always, but the movie goes on for far too long, and the humor just isn't funny enough to sustain a two and a half hour film.
After about an hour and fifteen minutes, the movie just loses all of its focus and purpose, forcing you to watch a satire that is no longer insightful nor funny. The very end becomes kind of funny as O'Toole turns into Jack the Ripper, but overall "The Ruling Class" needed another editor to chop this film into a smaller time frame.
