Review of The Ruins (2008) by Francisca M — 03 Sep 2009
I enjoyed this horror movie for the most part. I like the location and the creepy plants. It's even more scary with the villagers trying to warn people off. They knew the truth about the plants but the communication barrier stopped them.
Though the changed some things between the movie and the book, it was still nice. Some of the scenes were gruesome like the amputation and the cutting. But the most horrifying part is the plants in the victims.
It would've been nice for them to find more bodies and get a little more into the plants. But that was the point of the story. They couldn't know anything except what they gathered. So, that's even better sometimes.
I like a not so happy ending to some horror movies. The girl escaped but not entirely.
