Review of The Ruins (2008) by David L — 05 Feb 2011
Yeah, a pretty average watch really........kept me entertained for an hour or two. I wasn't really sure which way this film was going to go, but i'm glad it didn't succomb to making it into a group of teenagers who were battling a large mass of shubbery in order to stay alive.
At one point I feared this was goin to be a pointless watch, but thankfully it focused mainly on the relationships between the individuals, and the battle to stay alive long enough to be found. It wasn't scary at all, but there was a fair amount of gore, as it's not in every film that you witness someone having there legs cut off with what seemed like a pen knife.
Left itself open to a sequel, but I doubt this will happen given that this was just another bog standard horror, which lacked that unique selling point.
