Review of The Ruins (1984) by Sandra T — 14 Jan 2012
Had me worried for the first 15 minutes or so..the dialogue seemed forced and unnatural during this time and therefore I found that it took me much longer than most films to really care about what was going on with the 4 main characters prior to them actually arriving at "The Ruins".
With that being said, once the story established itself (why these characters were being trapped in such a place)... it all came together rather nicely. This film has a creepy and uneasy feeling to it throughout.
Final Thought: If the idea of vines/plants finding their way inside human skin and therefore the human constantly wants to cut themselves to get them out sounds good to you..then man is this the movie for you! (3 stars).
