Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by W.a B — 01 Sep 2012
"Fantastic Mr Fox" brought me here. I think even though FMF was my first exposure to Wes Anderson, I STILL would've called his style of writing/directing very "animated". This is just pure funniness in its purest and funniest form.
However, I can still see how this film would NOT appeal to everyone, which is fine (I suppose). The casting here is so damn spot on; it would NOT have worked without all the talent that was assembled here - and dare I say it, even Gwyneth Paltrow is amazing.
Much praise to Gene Hackman, being the spearhead of this picture. Such witty writing here. Great soundtrack. I'm beginning to see a trend in Anderson's work, and I like what I see!
