Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by Kasey C — 24 Apr 2013
The Royal Tenenbaums. Good things include an all-star cast and narrator, an incredibly well filmed suicide scene, Gene Hackman, Danny Glover, and Anderson's movies always have this colorful sort of aesthetically pleasing look to them so it was a visual treat.
On a more important note, Wes Anderson is a terrible director. His style is not funny, not cute, not entertaining, and especially not tolerable. Just weird. I repeat, he is NOT FUNNY just stupid and obnoxious.
The most unrealistic characters of any director. He is original and not in any sort of a good way. He is like the Lady Gaga of the movie industry. He acts so intentionally weird and puts on a big fucking show but it's all to get attention and somehow he does.
When you are that over the top weird (again like Gaga) you just become the epitome of annoying. He's a chump and his movies suck (except Fantastic Mr. Fox). He manages to turn even Bill Murray into a boring waste of skin and on a side note; Paltrow is garbage too.
Same repetitive junk in all his movies where its dull, bleak, honestly I cant think of a better word than obnoxious so ill just use that. This movie is an obnoxious 4/10.
