Wes Anderson's movies really are a genre onto themselves and they genuinely are love them or hate them. I'd heard mixed reviews on this with people saying it was a great movie or a terrible movie, with no middle ground whatsoever.
I personally enjoy Wes Anderson's style, with the comedy emphasis on the quirkiness of the characters and dialogue and a few subtle visual gags. It really is a unique style, almost Coen-esque, but not as dark.
The ensemble cast are all fantastic in The Royal Tenenbaums, with Gene Hackman & Gwyneth Paltrow standouts. It also gives Ben Stiller one of his better acting performances.
