Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by Andrew B — 09 Dec 2015
This was the first Wes Anderson movie I had seen when it came out in 2002. I honestly was not all that familiar with his work and style. I remember sitting in the theatre and having absolutely no idea what was going on or what the movie was about, but I was laughing hysterically.
As silly as this movie is, there actually is a good plot that comes with it. All the actors seem to be out of there usual element in this film, playing different and obscure characters than you are used to seeing them play.
This film introduced me to Wes Anderson and I have since enjoyed just about all of his work since watching this. This movie has the same exact feel as the rest of his movies do, a very dry and dark humor, but overall downright hilarious.
