Review of The Rookie (1990) by Jay L — 10 May 2011
A buddy cop film unlike alot of the other buddy cop films. Director Clint Eastwood penned a new twist to the genre, and an enjoyable one at that. The Rookie is a tough, hardboiled and gritty explosion of all- out hardhitting action and plentiful laughs. A bloody, nonstop excitement and off-the-wall entertainment from the early 90's that's just a damn good time all the way around. An old-school powerhouse of vintage Clint Eastwood, it's an ultra-charged and downright violently brutal actioner that's packed with stellar action sequences including awesome chases, thunderous shootouts and blistering hot thrills. Great entertainment.
The acting is nothing special, but who cares. Clint Eastwood and Charlie Sheen have some decent chemistry together, and they both deliver some genuine humor.
