Review of The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone (1961) by Michael S — 06 Jan 2008
Vivien Leigh is always worth watching and this part fits her fragile looks and sensitive acting perfectly. You never go wrong with a Tennessee Williams-movie :) Warren Beatty gets his first big break here and lucks dashing, while Lotte Lenya of The Threepenny Opera and the stage version of Cabaret received an Oscar-nomination for her performance, but it is Vivien Leigh you will never forget.
And yes - she is finer even than Helen Mirren in colourful but less poetic TV-version.
