Review of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) by Donald W — 24 Feb 2013

This is the most bizarre movie ever made. I never went to the theater to watch it. The crowds were a little too much for me. They had a few midnight showings at the OSU Student Union Theater when I was in college but I was too busy playing Dungeons and Dragons to go.

The LP was one we liked to listen to while we played D&D. One of the guys I met back then thought it was the worse movie he had ever seen. Another of my friends complained that the audience made so much noise he couldn't hear the movie.

It is basically a bad movie with a great sound track. That's usually the way it is with Rock and Roll musicals. The closest I got was when I went to see Red Sonja with a friend of mine. We went to a late showing on the north side of Oklahoma City and as we were leaving about 11:30 the Rocky Horror fans were starting to line up outside the theater.

If I had been by myself and had my car with me I would have stayed but I wasn't driving. I bought the vinyl LP at Sound Warehouse in Midwest City before it burned down. I listened to it a lot and then latter ordered the CD online.

Finally when it came out on DVD I ordered it. You can enjoy the music better with the CD than the movie DVD.
