Review of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) by Dawdlingpoet — 24 Nov 2021
This is saucy, loud, perhaps brash but also...a bit of fun! its quite sexual and won't appeal to all but I can understand why it has a cult following. Most of the songs are catchy, not least the well known Time Warp song.
I imagine this was regarded as very risque when it first came out (so to speak) in the 1970s. There are obviously sex references, partial nudity and implied violence, although most of the content is quite comical (frightfully so!). As a bit of entertainment, its not at all bad, although it isn't necessarily the kind of film late teens (its rated 15 in the UK, which seemed about right to me - I wouldn't recommend it be shown to anyone under the age of 15 or thereabouts) would want to watch in the same room as their parents, shall I say!. I liked the settings, various rooms with some colourful items and such like.
My favourite scene featured a young Meat Loaf seemingly crashing the party, which didn't entirely go down well. It was certainly an amusing watch, one thats worth seeing.
