Review of The Robe (1953) by Artemis C — 26 Mar 2009
For the first CinemasScope film it's not too bad. I can only imagine the experience of watching a widescreen movie for the first time in the 50s. The characters in the film were fairly bland and lacking any real personality.
The one thing I find interesting is how in older films they typically won't even show the face of Christ as compared to todays films. I found the making-of documentaries more interesting than the film.
