Review of The Roaring Twenties (1939) by Mark S — 12 Jul 2008
"He used to be a big shot." Cagney films always contain memorable quotes. I first saw this with my Nan when I was far too young to be watching gangster flicks, but I'm glad I did, as I think it was one of the key films that turned me into the buff/geek that I am today.
It contains a few too many musical numbers for my liking, but any film featuring both Cagney and Bogart is worth seeing. There is also a lot crammed into the plot, which spans the end of The First World War to the Wall Street Crash.
"The shock-crammed days G-men took ten whole years to lick!".
