Review of The Road to Wellville (1994) by Rich B — 07 Sep 2004
Road to Wellville (1994) - Matt Broderick / Anthony Hopkins / Bridget Fonda / Dana Carvey / John Cusack star in a funny movie about a health business run in Battle Creek, MI by the original Mr. Kellogg.
The story is based on the novel by T. Coraghessan Boyle. It 's sophisticated humor, but it works. It?s great period stuff and the props they use in the film are snake-oil salesmanship at its best.
The business thrives by putting their customers through hilarious tests. Matthew Broderick, like George Clooney, is a highly admired actor by me for his willingness to take on strange projects. He spent most of the movie naked except for a rolled towel wrap, but the beard was a turnoff.
Meanwhile, John Cusack and Kellogg?s son, Dana Carvey, plot to steal Kellogg?s recipe for corn flakes. Those guys were really funny.
