Review of The Road to Hong Kong (1962) by Anthony V — 07 May 2008
The last Hope and Crosby road movie. By now you know what to expect. Got worse reviews than its predecessors, despite being basically the same. The plot is largely a James Bond ripoff (although interestingly, it was released before Dr. No), with some moderately amusing jokes and fun cameos (including Peter Sellers doing his Indian shtick).
In an annoying double standard, Dorothy Lamour, 11 years younger than Hope and Crosby, was deemed too old to play the object of lust for those dirty old men, so she was replaced with Joan Collins (who ironically would later be famous as a sexy older actress). The 48-year-old Lamour still looks amazing though.
