Review of The Road to El Dorado (2000) by Jared M — 05 Sep 2010
I can't remember what it was, but there was a moment in the trailer that made me want to watch this years ago.
I must admit, I was a fan of the Disney cartoon films, recently they began piling on pointless sequels and they are not all as impressive as they once were...but then every now and again there is a good one...this is it! The story is pretty much what you'd expect from a Disney film, but the film relies heavily on the jokes and friendship of the two conmen it all centres around, and the gags are really quite good in this.
For the jokes to work the leads had to have a good 'chemistry', and Kline and Brannagh work really well together. The animation is slick and impressive considering it's a normal animation and not a 'Pixar' style film.
Great classic style Disney cartoon magic, the kind that any adult watching with their children can enjoy...or big kids, like me, watching on their own!
