Review of The River Wild (1994) by Donna . — 14 Jan 2008
A highly entertaining, exciting and suspenseful adventure thriller with Kevin Bacon at his menacing best.
It's about a family, with a largely absent workaholic father/husband, who go on a rare vacation together where they befriend a couple of strangers (Bacon and John C. Reilly), who turn out to be not as they appear at all...Soon after this discovery, the family's trip turns into a living nightmare as mother (Meryl Streep), father (David Strathairnan) and son (Joseph Mazzello) find themselves held captive and desperately working together to escape.
As a family film, of course it ends happily with the family becoming closer from the experience.
The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and from a high caliber cast like this, of course the acting is superb. A very good film!
