Review of The River Wild (1994) by Connor _ — 24 Mar 2010
Meryl Streep proves she can do any kind of film, even an action thriller, where she excellently plays an aging rafting expert constantly being reminded of her glorious past, having settled for her family.
Kevin Bacon is equally good as the creepy cold-blooded killer thief she naively befriends, with John C. Reilly at his beck and call. David Straithairn, her estranged husband, tries to bond with his estranged son, Joseph Mazzello.
With a great screenplay by Denis O'Neill that balances slower talk/romance scenes with high-adrenaline action scenes. 8.2/10.
