Review of The River Wild (1994) by Paxton A — 18 Aug 2013
Oddly enough, this is one of the first movies that really got into my brain as a kid and turned me on to what really good acting and an exciting score can do for almost any type of 'man vs. nature' movie.
This and Jurassic Park were actually two of my first movies I remember being totally sucked into while also 'knowing' that there were people behind the scenes making the actual scene work. Today, I still hold this movie in high esteem, even if it doesn't hold up to Jurassic Park (and what can?) - it still has plenty of smoldering Kevin Bacon, a strong-ass female lead in Meryl Streep, and yes, that kid from Jurassic Park isn't half bad in this one either.
All in all, I give this a 5/5 because the RT meter won't care either way, and because it's just a good damn awesome movie. That's right - GOOD DAMN AWESOME.
