Review of The Right Stuff (1983) by Graham F — 15 May 2008
The pilots/astronauts are portrayed as a bunch of redneck fratboys - they may as well have been chanting "USA! USA!" whilst chugging brewskis (oops, that sounds a bit russian, commie alert.) Chuck Yeager destroys a bulti-billion dollar test plane on a whim, somehow survives, and gets treated like a hero for being a twat.
All in all, a dire piece of jingoistic nonsense that I hope was way off the mark in its characterisation of these men.
