There are several aspects that make this an awesome movie for me. It play like a historical fiction might, seeped in realism, that points us to an inside view of what this contemporary rough neck cowboy culture is actually like.
The hard edge juxtaposed to the dear tender moments are so worth contemplating as to how the viewer could also deepen and authenticate their own healthy masculinity. Life is difficult, the movie boldly states; but it's love that really animates it.
