Review of The Revenant (2015) by Bikerjames — 19 Jan 2016
First and foremost, it's great to see Native Americans in a film again. Not sure why we only see Native Americans in period pieces, but I'll take it. The soundtrack for this film is exemplary. Music and sounds that enhance the movie experience rather than detract from it like most movies.
The cinematography is breathtaking. The acting is great throughout and DiCaprio might even be upstaged by Tom Hardy's excellent portrayal. Although I've never witnessed an actual bear attack, this one looked realistic enough to make it very uncomfortable to watch.
The battles also looked realistic. There are a few things in the film that didn't work for me, especially the posse at the end composed of only two people going after the bad guy, and whether or not someone could actually survive the freezing cold in his condition, but overall I enjoyed the film.
