Review of The Revenant (2015) by Paul J — 30 Sep 2016
Obviously I went in with high expectations and could not have been more disappointed. The only upside to this film is the cinematography. The story was so derivative, like a mix of old westerns but bringing nothing new to the table.
It was a collection of unbelievable situations and coincidences. Decaprios "acting" pretty much consisted of gritting his teeth a lot and screaming. Just because an actor gets dirty and pretends to be angry and in pain is not worthy of an academy award.
His theft of a horse was comical. The other characters were very one dimensional. Again I thought the imagery was great but everything else was torture.
