Review of The Revenant (2015) by Retep T — 09 Oct 2016
From the novel written by Michael Punke. The Revenant is a movie about Hugh Glass, a frontiersman left to die by his comrades after being mauled by a bear. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the role of Hugh Glass very well, deserving of the Oscar nomination.
What he lacks in amount of dialogue, he makes up for in his actions in the movie, making us feel that we are with Hugh as he crawls through the miles of snow. While Leo's performance is great, I found that Tom Hardy's portrayal of John Fitzgerald was the best example of acting in the movie.
Tom Hardy performed the role of the villain in The Revenant masterfully and really made strides to becoming a prestige actor. Inarritu crafted a fantastic thriller that's deserving of all it's nominations.
