Review of The Revenant (2015) by M. C — 23 Oct 2016

I watched this movie before I began my "Oscar Watch". What I do (because my opinion matters) lol. I watch all the movies to see if I agree with the nominations and winners. This year along with that there was some controversey about a snub toward Black movies and actor. Creed, Straight Out of Compton, Concussion, Chiraq and Beasts of No Nation with actors and actresses in those movies as well being snubbed. I was going to watch those movies anyway (except Chiraq I am still on the fence about watching that). I had already watched SOC. I havent watched Concussion, but I doubt seeing it would change my opinion..laughing at myself cuz people really care what I think..

I am not going to change my rating.. cuz I was not crazy abt this movie..but Leo killed the role. He played the hell out of that part! Best picture nod...deserved no snub..just on what leo put in to the role alone but add tom hardy and hey..nominate.. best actor win? Hands down.. no snub!

Im going to give it a 3..i watched this twice..didnt pay it enough attention the first time to busy doing other things while watching..with that being said...

I saw a review from a film critic that compared this movie with Hemsworth movie about "moby dick". She felt Hemsworths movie was garbage and this one was better. Looking at the ratings of both it seems a lot of people agree.

I actually liked Hemsworth movie, I am no "professional" movie critic, what ever it take to do that job. It wasn't a bad movie plus add the eye candy that is hemsworth to movie and who can complain? Anyway, I wonder what critcs look at exactly. The Revenant was ok. Just ok. It was actually rather boring. Now I say that, but Dicaprio was great in his role. He deserved the oscar(well I havent watched the other nominated actors so thats premature) he did a very good job. I think he always does. Hardy I am in love with him, although he plays basically the same guy all the time, it works for him. The movie as whole, it was to dam long.

It was supposed to be based on a true story..but it was very loosely based. I read up on Glass and a lot of stuff in the movie was really embellished. Why give the man a kid if he didnt have one? I still cant find anything on this Poqwa chick? Why was she even in the movie? Its just went on and on. I found myself thinking if this man falls of one more dam cliff, gets hit one more dam time or anything im going to scream!

The movie had some sad moments, for me not enough action. I dont mind the fight scenes, the killing and stuff thats the good part. The gross parts.. the savagery of eating raw meat, biting in to raw fish, hiding in the carcass of dead horses..omg too much. Anyhow..i didnt hate and I didnt love it. Struggled with staying awake.
