Review of The Revenant (2012) by Matt C — 14 Oct 2012
The first two reels are "Harold & Kumar" meets "Sean of the Dead" meets "Death Wish", with a dash of "The Toxic Avenger" thrown in. Which is the tame part. After that it gets seriously weird. "The Revenant" is witty, grisly and hilarious throughout, with an exquisite twist at the end which catapults it from "Sean of the Dead" into the world of "Twelve Monkeys" and "Dr. Strangelove".
(BTW, there seems to be a glitch in the Tomatometer's graphic for this film. It shows a green splat even though 58% of critics found "The Revenant" fresh.).
