Review of The Return of the Living Dead (1985) by Conner R — 24 Oct 2009
This is a fantastic and unique take on the zombie genre. It mixes dark humor with blood and gore. Its about two employees who work at a medical supply building. The new recruit, Freddy, has a fascination with dead people.
So Frank, the other employee, tells him a scary story. The story is about the movie Night of the Living Dead, and How it was based on a real story that the government covered up. Apparently, a certain chemical turns the dead into the living dead.
To show proof of his story being true, Frank shows Freddie containers containing some of the dead bodies from the event. The containers also contain the chemical that turns the dead into the undead. Accidently, Frank opens the container, letting all the chemical gas out of the container, and Thats all in the opening sequence.
This is one of the best zombie movies out there. It has a great cast of characters, music that completely sets the eerie mood, and A wide array of zombies that go from decaying brown to completely skeleton.
Also, the zombies can talk. They don't have any catchphrases but that doesn't mean its pretty damn unique. Overall, its a must watch for any zombie fan. If you have the chance, watch it. Its one heck of a movie.
