Review of The Return of the Living Dead (1985) by Tony F — 15 Oct 2010
"It's not a bad question, Burt".
This movie is solid Zombie shenanigans afoot.
As opposed to Romero's more serious "Dead" series, Russo usually brings more 'Zomedy" and boobies into his "Living Dead" films.
This film is very entertaining and worth an "own" to any Zombie afficiando.
Many things in this movie give birth to future Zombie films such as Zombie causing toxic gas (Planet Terror), Zombie half decayed dogs (Resident Evil), acid to a Zombies face (Diary of the Dead), Zombies with speed in lieu of shambling (I Am Legend), nuking a town with both Zombie and human for final solution (The Crazies-remake), Zombies that can think (Land of the Dead)...this movie has alot of cutting edge things going on.
The special effects are pretty good, nice gore for the time. It's a good flick with alot of laughs to the viewer, not so much the victims trying to save alive.
Well done.
