Review of The Rescuers (1977) by Robert T — 20 May 2008
I never had the privilege to view this film as a child until just recently. Though I remembered I vaguely saw a few clips from this film in the past, I never got into it. So, I chose to view the film again in its entirety, and honestly, it was alright.
The film's introduction was neat, but it gradually got a little dull and boring toward the end. Though there were some sad and interesting parts in the film, the whole film didn't do it for me.
The things that I did not like as much was the bad editing. I didn't like the quick, yet random, fade outs in specific scenes. Maybe it was cool back to fade out a scene that quick, but it was more of a distraction for me.
Another thing that I did not like much was the young girl in this film. She looked like she was nine or ten, but sounded like a four-year-old. What's up with that? The film's villain was unique, but I kind of know why that character is rarely mentioned within the realm of Disney villains -- she did not spark any interest all that much.
Overall, the film's animation was fresh -- particularly when the film used still paintings at the beginning of the film. The film was just average for me.
