Review of The Rescuers (1977) by Kieran F — 05 Apr 2013
This is a great film. I'd def. say it's a classic walt disney film. the story is...some what basic but entertaining about a young girl held captive by a woman named Medusa so that she can get her ta diamond called "The Devils Eye". Desperate to leave the little girl,Penny, drops a letter in a bottle and has the bottle float down the stream. The bottle is then discovered by the "Rescue Aid's Society" and they send Miss Bianca(who after reading the letter full hearty accepts and volunteers for the job) and Bernard who is sent along with Bianca as "Protection" for her.
With the help of an Arbotrose named "Albert" they land and the Devils buyou and become friends with the locals who help them find the where about of Penny. Once found they try and find a away to get Penny home and retreve the "Devils Eye" diamond.
THe story is pretty basic after all that but it immensely enjoyable and TBH it's very hard NOT to enjoy this film regardless of your age. I think the big reason is because Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor do such a great job as their respectful characters. and the chemestry they have is great. I'll also be the first to admit that Eva's voice as Bianca is very Sexy like...I don't know if that sounds right considering it's a childrens film and it's also an animated film but that's the best way to describe her. The other actors are also great and enjoyable to watch.
All in all this is really one of the best(post) disney's Death films and I think it really showed they could continue on with out him and also have the same quality of films come out.
