Eh, now I really don't see what all the fuss is about. You hear so much about how funny this is and guess what IT'S NOT. I chuckled when the fat Japanese guy (who I thought might explode) scored a TD, and I grinned when Faizon Love shot the SOB QB's car.
I sat stone face through the big "I Will Survive" number; DUMB. Most people might assume this was Keanu's fault, it certainly was not. Keanu's character was alright with me, but everyone else was not.
Aside from Jon Favreau (who was NUTS), I could care less about anyone in here and there's no one reason to care. Every minor background info was rushed along so quickly so you wouldn't get caught up in it I guess.
Instead we're forced to see at least 15 minutes of worthless NOT sexy cheerleader shots. Hackman was pretty disappointing and really sold out Keanu. Jack Warden always seems to play rich and shady characters; hmm.
As for Summerall & Madden; horrendous. They were terrible announcers in real games and even worse in a movie. Madden sounded like a buffoon, and Summerall sounded like he was dead. The football scenes were actually pretty good, but talk about borrowing from "The Little Giants" and even "Major League.
" Somehow "Invincible" kinda borrowed from this, maybe that's why that sucked too.
