Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Rebecca R — 12 Aug 2008
Do not watch Remains of the Day if you are one of those movie goers who are unable to read between the lines for that is what this whole film plays upon. The true meanings of the film (whether is be the political meaning, the status of the relationship betweent the two protagonists) are never boldly pronounced for that is what makes it such a genius work.
What happens when we remain quiet and allow ourselves to be carried away by saftey and time? Ultimatly heartbreaking and leasurly, it's one of those films perfect for a rainy, somber afternoon.
