Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Jeff B — 03 Apr 2011
It has been an extremely long time since I last saw this film so I wanted to check it out again. This was much better than I remembered, before rewatching the film myself, I had recommended it to my friend to watch but kept mentioning to her "but don't be surprised if you find it very boring, it's good, but you might get bored".
Well, it's certainly not for everyone, but if you give it a chance you'll be very pleased. The the thing I love about Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins, particularly Hopkins here, is that they manage to express so much without words, their facial expressions show so much.
For instance, the scene where Emma wants to see what Anthony is reading, they manage to turn that into a huge scene when it's just a little moment. Anyway, I really liked this and am glad I watched it again.
