Everybody has those Christmas movies that they watch every year. For most, it's either Christmas Vacation or A Christmas Story. For me, it's The Ref.
The Ref is a very well crafted holiday comedy about a cat burglar who takes a bickering couple hostage that are driving him insane but as the night prolongs, it slowly becomes blur on who exactly is the hostage.
The movie almost works as a play considering that it doesn't take place much outside of the house and is very dialogue driven but it had some hysterical situations between the couple and the burglar who is slowly going nuts.
Everyone in the movie is what makes this completely dysfunctional situation to life. Denis Leary, Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis are all fantastic. Check out this movie soon.
