Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Liolia K — 17 May 2010
Wonderful. The film's greatest value is that it's about the incredible voyage of a very special violin. Therefore, the whole movie is estructured in order to tell the violin's story: the characters are well defined and interesting, yet they don't take too much spotlight, and the time periods are well divided and follow the proper time course.
Of course, the score, composed by John Corigliano, is one of the best aspects of the film. Although the movie has a slow pace, it's very interesting, and it respects the language of wherever the violin is at.
Amazing!
