Review of The Red Violin (1998) by Warren S — 29 Dec 2010
A beautiful but terribly sad film that shows not one but many stories of talented artists who are doomed to struggle unsuccessfully in love and in life. The stories take place over three centuries and are connected by their protagonists' mutual ownership of a red violin with a rather disturbing story of its own.
I wonder if Francois Girard is as nihilistic as the tone of this movie would suggest.
