Review of The Real Dirt on Farmer John (2006) by Steve M — 30 Aug 2008
An interesting documentary, but it's all over the place. It comes across more as a man trying to tell his life story in an hour and a half rather than really focusing on the farm. It wants us to empathize with Farmer John and all of his trials and tribulations but it comes across more as a guy who, when things get rough, takes off to Mexico.
I know he's accomplished some great things with his farm, but all of that seems like an afterthought in this film.
