Review of The Reader (2008) by Janet M — 27 Mar 2012
A movie about ruined lives. The reader is about living in lies and how one mistake leads to others. The young boy in the movie could never have a normal relationship after the older women took advantage of him.
The young man could never tell the truth during a war trial of Winslet that she was illiterate and let her go to jail. In the end, the movie has a message about over coming fear about being illiterate and getting help.
Winslet would do horrible things in order to hide being illiterate. I think the movie used the story as an excuse to create a steamy movie with a younger teen and older women. I give the Reader two out of five stars.
