Review of The Reader (2008) by Cole M — 19 May 2012
There are interesting moments in "The Reader" where characters are developed and a story is told. There are moments where Kate Winslet is fantastic (She won an Oscar for this performance, mind you.
Beating out the much better Anne Hathaway for "Rachel Getting Married"). David Kross gives a great performance as well. However, "The Reader" comes off as a cluttered mess of a film that thinks that it's telling more than it really is.
Winslet has given better performances ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" or "Little Children").
