Review of The Razor's Edge (1946) by Daniel K — 15 Apr 2013
3: Gene Tierney is absolutely ravishing, especially coming down the stairs in that black dress. The story is fairly compelling; the production values are top notch; and the cast and performances leave little to be desired.
Tyrone Power and Tierney make a good team. The religious aspects of the film are handled with a reasonably deft touch as well. Scenes, motivations, dialogue, etc could be read as overtly Christian by those with an inclination in that direction, while many of the same scenes could be read as spiritual or mystical or simply moving by those with a different inclination.
In other words, the film is reasonably subtle, which is rare for a religious picture.
