Review of The Raven (2012) by Tyler R — 17 Sep 2012
The Raven immediately gave me a sense of watching "Sherlock Holmes". Finding a way to reinvent a character (or in this case author) is a tricky one, especially when said character or author is so beloved.
John Cusack does a fine job as Poe, as do all the other actors with their parts. Using this movie as a way to offer up a bit of fan fiction insight as to how Poe mysteriously died was pretty clever. I enjoyed the movie, however, I did find it a little.
.unbelievable when Poe made these miraculous connections between one murder and the next. The movie even plays the explantions so quickly because it knows that if it even spent one more second on them, the audience would see how impossible these conncections are.
That being said, I enjoyed the film more has a "Who dunnit?" film than anything to be taken seriously.
