Review of The Raven (2012) by Claudius C — 08 Sep 2012
Maybe Edgar Alan Poe was a boozer, but why portray him as a light-headed knight in shining armor who comes to the rescue of a damsel? There is something repulsive about it. The problem with this film is that Poe is not a fictional character like Charlock Holmes and you can not romanticize his life by making a superhero out of him.
I believe it could have been much better if The Raven had been made as a serious movie with murders from Poe's literary works, but without Poe himself. This movie Is just another poor attempt to sell us a bill of goods by simply using a well-known name! The Raven was supposed to be a thriller but instead it turned out to be a hollow action mystery film.
