Review of The Raven (2012) by Leigh M — 13 Oct 2012
After reading the editorial reviews I was prepared not to like this movie. I rented it because my husband and son wanted to see it. I loved it. Half-way through I started wondering if I'd missed some glaring flaw.
Then came John Cusack's perfectly delivered line: "If I would have known my work would have such an effect on people, I would have devoted more of my time to eroticism." I was hooked. Humor, wit and gore; I didn't know I appreciated all three in one movie, turns out I do.
The script combines a tortured romanticism with a classic sleuth story. I enjoyed it enough to watch it again before my rental runs out.
