Review of The Ramen Girl (2008) by Lewis L — 23 Feb 2010
The problem with this movie is that it's a lot like it's central character: confused and lost. This is really evident if you ever watch the amount of Deleted scenes on the DVD. It appears the film makers didn't know what kind of film they were trying to make: Chocolat, Lost In Translation, Tampopo, a 3rd of the Babylon film.
The end result was a bland film. It's too bad too as some of the scenes cut were really good. The funniest moment like Chocolat occurs very late in the film where Abby's tears and saddness somehow seep into the soup and cause customers to become sad.
It's a shame they couldn't re-edit the film. There was an idea here it just didn't pan out.
