Review of The Rainmaker (1997) by Dan K — 18 Jan 2007
This was such an understated film filled with incredible performances all around. Matt Damon was very good and showed flashes of his emerging talent, but he was ultimately overshadowed by a supporting cast that bordered on spectacular.
While I won't go through the list of supporting players (they were all good, so there are too many to list), I will single out Red West (who played Donnie Ray's veteran father), who almost stole every scene he was in with a completely silent performance.
I don't recall much press on this film when it was released so I'll have to call it a definite diamond in the rough, a must see for fans of courtroom dramas!
