Review of The Rainmaker (1997) by Dave H — 19 Feb 2011
Far from Coppola's finest (that would be Jack), but this is probably the best Grisham adaptation thus far - certainly it's got the most impressive cast and there's some nice humour interspersed with the legal drama and predictable grandstanding.
Plot has zero surprises, the characters are mostly just white hats vs black hats, and there are some odd pacing/scene placement decisions which affect the suspense, but it's still a joy to watch these brilliant actors hit their marks, and Coppola work the camera.
